Founded 30 years ago, in 1987, St Andrews has been run by the same family throughout its history. The building caters for residents with diverse needs and offer the personal attention that you would expect when choosing residential care. St Andrews sits within a conservation area and within the setting of listed buildings as a Heritage Asset. It was particularly important to preserve and enhance the conservation area and the vibrancy of the settlement in the design and development process and the conversion and extension works which required delivery of a sensitive scheme for the site. The existing building was once a vicarage to St Andrews church and this relationship was an important consideration as part of the design, viability and functional requirements given their close proximity to one another. The extension was designed as a single storey in respect of its this and its interface with the lawn and the materials used were specified with the intention to convey a country house feel using lightweight materials and stone.
The extension contributed towards balancing the commercial and functional needs of the home whilst considering the desirability to preserve and improve upon the outside spatial relationships.
